7th grade students, wrote a report in English. Topics had to be approved by the teacher. Some topics chosen were: Collin-John Adams, Jessica-Cobras, Hayley-Wild Cats, Amy-Ellis Island, Noah-Korean War, Emily H.-Titanic, Eddie-Billy the Kid, Emily L.-Monkeys, Haley-Pigs, Andrea-Cherokee Indians, Emily J.-Dolphins, Jeremiah-Adolf Hitler, Jordan-Lacrosse, Sabrina-Great Depression, Lindsey-Nez Perce Indians, Kenzie-Koalas, Derek-Raccoons, Lance-Magic, Zach-Ventriloquists, Kylie-Dolphins, Josh-Hercules, Ryan-Albert Einstein, Nathan-Albert Schweitzer.
They took notes from at least 3 sources. They could be encyclopedia, book, magazine, almanac or internet. The notes needed to be in ink and on only one side of the paper. At the top of each paper of notes was the title, author, date, and page numbers.
Students had to make an outline in ink with no sentences-only single words and phrases.
Then they made a scratch copy. They had to watch sentence structure, spelling, flow, paragraphing, and grammar.
The final copy had to have a bibliography that listed title, author, copyright, and page numbers of each source.
When students received their grade for the report they had an option of making corrections and handing it in again. They also read it to the class.
