The 8th grade English class is once again finished with a yearly tradition of making the Me Books for the kindergarten classes for the school district of Tri-Point and also for some out of county children like the teacher's relatives as well.
Making the Me Books is a long, drawn out process which includes many weeks of working on the computer, making final copies of the story, and creating the pictures as well.
To start with, the 8th grade English class, taught by Mrs. Knilands, had to start with making a cover for the children’s book that included a picture of the child with a few drawings depending on what we thought they enjoyed after we interviewed them. Along with our front covers that we made, we also included an about the author back page that told about the person that wrote it and gave the little ones and parents some information about the author.
After we finished their final copies and thought that they were good enough to deliver, Mrs. Knilands decided to make one of the English classes a chance for us to see the children face to face and deliver their book to them.
For the 8th grade students that had a child that was out of the county they sat in with another person and their child and helped read it to them.
After the very long process, it seemed that all the people that took part in it had a great time and we 8th grade students appreciated learning how to succeed by making a book for a younger child. We hope that they enjoy them because a lot of the 8th grade students today still have theirs.
