Welcome to the Superintendent’s News article for January 2010.
First, the school district is establishing an athletic hall of fame to recognize athletes from Tri-Point High School and the high schools that were part of the school districts that now makeup the Tri-Point School District. These seven high schools are the Cabery Cardinals, the Cullom Ramblers, the Ford Central Cougars, the Kempton Red Devils, the Kempton-Cabery Comanche, the Piper City Blue Streaks, and the Roberts-Thawville Leprechauns. Candidates for the Tri-Point High School Hall of Fame may be nominated in one of the four following categories – ATHLETE: Any person who distinguished himself/herself in the field of athletics while in high school. Criteria include All-State recognition, State Champion or Place at State Finals (Relay teams in track and field are included within this criteria and will be inducted as a group, not individually), or chosen as a member of a state recognized All-Star Team. ALUMNUS/ALUMNA: Any person who distinguished himself/herself after graduation from high school. Criteria include outstanding college athletic accomplishments, college athletic scholarship recipient, or college athletics participant. Alumnus/alumna nominees must have graduated from high school at least ten years ago. COACH: Any coach with at least five years of service at Tri-Point High School or one of the other seven high schools and at least ten years of coaching experience. Criteria include accomplishments as a coach that merited statewide recognition as well as significant contributions to Tri-Point High School or one of the other seven high schools. CONTRIBUTOR: Eligibility of outstanding contributors will be at the sole discretion of the selections committee. Candidates must have made outstanding contributions or offered extraordinary services to the student/athletes and the athletic program at Tri-Point High School or one of the other seven high schools.
A dinner honoring the first class of inductees will be held on Saturday, April 24, 2010 at 6:00 p.m. at Tri-Point High School in Cullom. Second, congratulations to Amy Loschen a freshman at Tri-Point High School. Amy was named the student-of-the month at the Livingston Area Vocational Center for the month of December. Amy was honored for her outstanding class participation, positive attitude, and excellent work traits and personal characteristics. Congratulations Amy.
Third, Mr. Scott Saffer, the enrichment program coordinator and teacher at the upper elementary/junior high school in Piper City, and his students hosted a very successful trivia night on Saturday, January 16, 2010 in Piper City. The event had over sixty-five participants and raised funds for the enrichment program students to attend a technology conference in Bloomington, IL this spring. Congratulations to Mr. Saffer and his students.
Fourth, please note that the school board meeting for February 2010 will be held at Tri-Point High School in Cullom. The meeting date and time are Monday, February 8th at 7:00 p.m. The school board is holding its meetings in satellite locations over the next three months in order to be more accessible to school district residents. The March school board meeting will be held at the junior high school in Piper City. The January school board meeting was held at the Cabery fire station.

Monday, February 8, 2010 – School Board Meeting, 7:00 p.m., Tri-Point High School, Cullom
Monday, February 15, 2010 – No school, Presidents’ Day
