September 01, 2010
The young Raiders played PBL better Tuesday than they did on Monday, but the result ended up the same with an 11-4 loss. T-P lost 16-6 in 6 innings on Monday. Tri-Point only trailed 3-2 after 3 innings, but PBL hit them with a 6 run 4th inning to pull away.
Tim Crouch started on the hill for T-P and lasted 3 1/3 innings. He gave up only 3 hits, but uncharacteristically walked 5 while pitching. In all, Crouch gave up 9 runs, but only 5 were earned as Tri-Point's defense hurt themselves as they committed 7 errors on the day. Jacob Bruner also pitched, going the final 2 2/3 innings. Bruner allowed 3 hits, 2 runs (1 earned), no walks and 1 strikeout.
Tri-Point's offense was not bad as it bashed out 9 hits, but the Raiders could never get the big hit to put them back in the game. The Raiders left the bases loaded in each of the last 3 innings. Hitting leaders for T-P were Austin Wooton with a perfect 3 for 3 on the day. Zach Sunday and Jake Dulek each had 2 hits with each recording a double. Tim Crouch and Kyle Robinson had one hit each with Robinson's being a double.
Tri-Point returns to action on Thursday at Watseka in the Tourney, playing host Watseka at 2 pm.
