Dewey Haag was recognized for his years of service on the school board and given a clock as a token of appreciation.

Ted Conkling introduced Jeff Bryan, the new superintendent as a guest at the meeting.

Upper Elem./Junior High Principal Report

A letter from Pastor Jim Dougans was read on the tennis program.  The tennis program had 12 lessons.  Brandon Wilkerson helped with the lessons.  Participation has increased from 13 in the fall to 21 in the spring.  The tennis program will continue with help of local parents after Pastor Dougans  leaves.

Tri-Point Junior High Art – There was several students excelled in the Art Contest which received 1st place chapter and

 1st place state.  Jan Monk chairman congratulates Mrs. Luchts and the art students.  The students did an awesome job.

Tri-Point Junior High Band cntest – All students that participate in the solo ensemble received a first place rating.  Way to go! 

High School Principal Report

PBIS – Austin Howard and Ty Zanardelli were the Students of the Quarter

FFA – Two students received state degree:  Amy Loschen and Nate Hoffman.  Great job!

Superintendent/Elem. Principal Report

Enrollment is stable at 467 students.

Instead of have a one day celebration for PBIS at the elementary school, roller skates were rented for the week of March 15th – March 21st.  JoAnne baked cookies and the students got to ice them.  The students had fun.

Building standpoints – There has been a bat problem in the Piper City buildings.  A bid came in for $9,850.  Lloyd Vaughn found someone from Clifton who will do it for $1,000.    The parking lot in Piper City is starting to crack.  Lloyd has called Toby’s to look at it.  Toby is the company who laid the parking lot last year. 

A letter of resignation was received by William Geasa.  He will be resigning at the end of the school year to take a new position at Momence

A letter of retirement was received by Kay Cobb.  She thanks everyone for 19 years and appreciates the change to work with students at Tri-Point.   Kay will be retiring at the end of the school year.

Committee Reports

Technology and Building Committee meet to discuss Maintenance Grant changes for the summer.  This will include install counter tops and wiring channels for the computer labs and other class rooms that have multiple computers.  Bids will be taken on this project. 

Building Committee – Discussed the new gym ceiling, which is also part of the Maintenance Grant, summer maintenance work, and summer employment applications.

Senate Bill 7 Committee meet and will be given a presentation for the May board meeting.

I move to approve the bid from the Unland Companies for the Property, Casualty, and Worker’s Compensation Insurance Program because the bid from the Brian Feltes Agency was not the lowest responsive and responsible bid.

 

Note:  Three years ago this insurance cost $92,000.  It will be $68,111 this year.
