New Concession Stand Worker Requirement

Over the past few years, the Tri-Point Boosters have contributed around $20,000 per year to support our athletic programs for coaches’ salaries, transportation, equipment, supplies and other miscellaneous costs.  While the annual Cash Bash is the main “big event” to raise money,  quite a large amount of money is raised every year through the operation of concession stands during sporting events, games, and athletic contests.  I want to take this opportunity to thank the boosters for all their hard work and all the volunteers that have been helping with the Cash Bash and concession stands.  All your hard work is appreciated by the students, parents, and community members.

During this same time period, the State of Illinois has experienced a “Budget Crisis” and has contributed less funds to local school districts.  The State of Illinois has not fully funded schools in Illinois for at least the past 7 years.  Without the contributions of the Tri-Point Boosters, the school district would not be able to support all the sports programs we currently have.

Also over the past few years, it seems that fewer and fewer volunteers have come forward to staff concession stands.  The burden to provide this important service at games that raises money for all our programs seems to be falling on fewer and fewer volunteers.   In order to spread the burden to a larger group of people, the Tri-Point Board of Education recently approved a Concession Work Requirement for the parents of participants in our sports programs. 

For the sports that host concession stands; Junior High Baseball, Junior High Volleyball, Junior High Boys and Girls Basketball, Junior High Boys and Girls Track, Junior High Cheerleading, High School Volleyball, High School Boys and Girls Basketball, High School Softball, and High School Cheerleading, the expectation generally will be that parents work two concession stand assignments during the course of a season.  This is a general rule but can be affected by the number of students in the sport and the number of concession stands scheduled for home games. Boosters will be present or will have a sign-up sheet at Parent Meetings prior to the start of the various sport seasons.

A $50 deposit check is required for each family per sport/season. This check will be handed in before the first game.  This check will only be cashed should the volunteer requirement not be met.  The volunteer requirement is met by working at the concession stand during games and tournaments.

Parents will have the option to "Opt Out" of volunteering by providing a $50 check to Tri-Point Boosters.  This check will be cashed right away.
