During a game of Knockout in PE on Friday, May 22, 2009, Danielle Shelby and Kendall Wills pulled off quite a feat. They got both of their basketballs, 9-inches in diameter, stuck inside the rim of the basketball hoop, 18-inches in diameter. The class took time to ponder the odds and appreciate a mathematical phenomenon. Math & Science teacher Mrs. Mogged and Mrs. Porth were not sure of the exact odds, but knew that odds were against it happening again soon. Mr. Couples, who has seen nearly everything there is to see in basketball, could not recall ever seeing that in his illustrious career in education and coaching.
Each junior high class was given the opportunity to witness the basketballs in the hoop and wondered if they would ever see it again. Odds are against it!!
