JH Cross Country practice is cancelled for today.
This Friday, September 13th, we are planning on practicing our Law Enforcement Drill. All schools are required by the State of Illinois to participate in a school intruder drill with the assistance of local law enforcement. This drill involves two parts. The first is a practice lockdown drill where students shelter in their classroom as if there was an intruder in the building. The second part would involve evacuating the building and moving to our rally point, which is the Piper City Rehab and Living Center. As we are getting into fall weather, please remind your children to have their jackets with them.
These drills are completed taking into account the ages of our students. We understand that our students may not understand the purpose of these drills. Because of that, we take the sensibilities of our students into account and design them to be age appropriate so we do not frighten our students. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact the upper elementary/junior high office at 815-686-2247.
