The Cross Country State Meet is this Saturday in Bloomington. Miguel Amador and Lily Polcen both qualified for the meet as individuals. Lily runs at 9:15 am and Miguel will run at 10:00 am.

Junior High: The Tri-Point Chargers Cross-Country team was at the 1A Cornerstone Section last Friday, October 6th. The Chargers competed in a competitive feild on both the boys and girls races. For the girls, Lilly Polcen would run a personal best of 15:01 (16th) earning her way to the State Meet. For the boys, Miguel Amabor would go on to run a dominant 1st place finish with a time of 11:14. Both Chargers will complete this Saturday at Maxwell Park in Bloomington at the State Meet.

Parents may pick up their student(s) at the parade. If you are taking your child, please sign them out with their grade level/homeroom teacher. Students may leave with grandparents, aunts, uncles, or other contacts listed in TeacherEase. They may NOT leave with other siblings or friends. If someone other than a parent will be picking your child up from the parade, please make sure to call the Junior High before 12:00 PM or send a Dojo message to your child’s grade level/homeroom teacher.
All other students will be returning to the Upper Elementary/Junior High School for regular dismissal.

This Wednesday, September 27th, we are planning on practicing our Law Enforcement Drill. All schools are required by the State of Illinois to participate in a school intruder drill with the assistance of local law enforcement. This drill involves two parts. The first is a practice lockdown drill where students shelter in their classroom as if there was an intruder in the building. The second part would involve evacuating the building and moving to our rally point. As we are getting into fall weather, please remind your children to have their coats with them.
These drills are completed taking into account the ages of our students. We understand that our students may not understand the purpose of these drills. Because of that, we take the sensibilities of our students into account and design them to be age appropriate so we do not frighten our students. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact the Upper Elementary/Junior High office at 815-686-2247.

THIS SUNDAY: A holocaust survivor, Dr. William Gingold, is speaking at the American Evangelical Lutheran Church (905 East First Street, Gibson City) at 10:30 am. There will also be a traveling museum that will be on display to the public from 4-7 pm September 11-29.

Tomorrow evening's junior high girls basketball game vs. Kankakee Grace Christian Academy will start at 5:30. In addition, because of low numbers, there will only be a 7th grade game.
Cheerleading practice is cancelled for tonight at the Junior High School. We do not have practice on Fridays. Hope everyone enjoys their weekend!

The junior high has been on 2 trips to Washington DC through the company, World Classrooms. The next trip to DC will be offered to grades 5-7 in 2025. These experiences have been a great opportunity for students to travel and learn!
Other travel experiences could be offered if enough interest is out there.
